Help a Caregiver Finish College

Over the last four years my husband and I have supported each other through my first year teaching (Middle School mathematics!), his deployment to Afghanistan, moving across the country and far from home, PTSD, many sleepless nights, and even an unfortunate meeting between our car and a deer at 4:00 AM.
Six months after leaving the Army and returning home to New York we met our next challenge: leukemia. Although the diagnosis came as a shock, we are tackling it with the same chutzpah and humor that have carried us through each new bend in the road.
As I support my husband through his treatment, he continues to cheer me on towards my goal of earning a Masters degree in Social Work. While I loved teaching, I decided to expand beyond the classroom and join a profession that allows me to support and advocate for those who continue to struggle.
We are asking for your support to make that goal a reality. Tuition for Spring and Fall semesters is $13,046. I've received a generous scholarship of $1,000 through my school, the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, and the Dorothy North McNeal Fund. Due to outstanding loans from my undergraduate degree we cannot afford to borrow any more. My husband will not be able to return to work for about a year after his bone marrow transplant and we are holding on to what little savings we have to cover the incidentals and unexpected costs associated with his treatment. We would truly appreciate your help in raising the remaining $12,046 I need to finish this last year and earn my degree.
