New Orleans Musical Journey makes an impact on local youth.
On March 19, the LEAF Delta Jazz Band will embark upon a journey to the heart of jazz music and cultural traditions, in the city of New Orleans, where jazz was born. The blossoming musicians will participate in the historic Congo Square Festival, sharpen their skills with a concert and master class at Preservation Hall and explore cultural heritage traditions throughout the city.

Meet Karen:
The first thing you notice about Karen is her thoughtful, quiet demeanor. Calmness radiates from her. Until she picks up her clarinet and begins to play. In that moment, a transformation occurs, and she is no longer reserved. Following in the footsteps of her older brother, Karen is excited to continue her family’s legacy participating in the LEAF Delta Jazz Band’s upcoming musical journey to New Orleans, especially because the trip happens right around her birthday!
