Justin Tilghman Culinary Scholarship

Hello,

As you all know, Justin Tilghman was a son, brother, friend, chef, car enthusiast, and so much more. On the 15th of May, Justin was taken from us too soon. However, this fundraiser and our memories will help preserve his memory for the years to come. Through the fundraiser, funds collected will be donated to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center, also known as CATEC.

Justin attended and completed his culinary training as a High School senior. Once established, the Justin Tilghman Culinary Scholarship for High School Students will help promote growth in the Culinary industry, the industry Justin would sweat, cry, and bleed for. The culinary program at CATEC introduces young aspiring chefs to the basics of working in a commercial kitchen. Students learn various subjects from Food Safety and Sanitation, First Aid, and Food Preparation. The program is offered to students between 10th and 12th grade and can be completed in 1-2 years, certification dependent. Once certification is attained, there are multiple schools with Culinary programs that will advance their career path.

Through this Scholarship, Justin's Family and I believe that his memory will continue to live throughout Charlottesville and the Culinary world. He would be so happy to know that young aspiring chefs will have the ability to hoan their technique and skills, who otherwise would not have the opportunity. Justin's love for Food and the Culinary Industry will live on, and the people he helps through this scholarship will continue his passion for food.
