Jachie Eye Clinic 3000km Cycle Tour

Spende geschützt
The Jachie Eye Clinic was established in 2002 as a non-profit organization to meet the growing need for an effective Ghanaian national eye-care programme which is aimed at preventing blindness. The specialized primary eye care centre was founded by my grandfather Dr. R. Cowley, a retired consultant ophthalmologist, and managed by an Anglican Religious Sister, Rev Sr. Abba Otoo.

The clinic is a philanthropic faith-based organization whose main aim is the provision of quality eye care to the needy. Returns from the clinic are ploughed back into the organization to expand its coverage, with part of the returns also transferred to the Clinic’s Educational Fund for clients who have permanently lost their sight.

In 2012 15,000 patients were seen at Jachie, 18,000 seen on outreach, and 11,000 children seen in school screening. However, more fundraising is needed if plans for the future development can continue, areas of importance are the ability to:

* Intensify the outreach programmes in schools, churches, workplaces and communities
* Sponsor staff for further training.
* Purchase a plant generator to serve the clinic in times of power outages and for new equipment of a VFT machine.
* New Hospital Project : To initiate the construction of eye hospital at Asokore Mampong.

More information can be found on the Jachie Eye Clinic Website.

This Summer from the 26th June I will be cycling 3000km through central Europe in under 2 months to raise money for the clinic.
