A Paralyzed Young Woman Needs A Wheelchair

Immediately when I saw Tere lying in the hospital bed, I thought about my own accident years ago.

But unlike Tere, my family and friends were close by. I had excellent health insurance and had a network to support me.

Tere has none of those things, and yet I could see the unbroken spirit of a fearless young woman who was willing to climb high in a tree as part of a game.

I can't change her paralysis from falling out of that tree, but I can change what happens to her now.  I can make a positive difference by allowing her to feel the joy brought on by an act of true compassion and service.

Tere needs rehabilitation, equipment, and medical supplies. But, I am starting with the one thing she needs the most, the funds to purchase a suitable wheelchair. Her family is from Mexico and is unable to afford one for her.
