Our son Robert was diagnosed with Leukemia on November 25, 2014--two days before Thanksgiving. His medical team at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, decided to immediately begin aggressive Chemotherapy. While this will be a three and a half year battle, his oncologists and hematologists are very confident they can cure him. We have felt every emotion from devastation and fear to hopefulness and gratitude. Words cannot express how loved we have felt as our friends, families, church, school teachers, parents and more have reached out to cheer little Robert on in his battle. You all have helped him so much already...and us. We sincerely thank you for your prayers, positive thoughts, messages and donations.
Even with three health insurance policies, Robert (dad) has out-of-pocket expenses and is not able to work while we are in Portland through the end of the year. I drive from Eugene to Portland and back several times a week to take care of our girls. Little Robert is having a difficult time adjusting to all the medications and often experiences pain and lethargy from the side effects, but he's been incredibly patient and tough. He is such a special, beautiful child and it's difficult for him to understand what's happening to him. However, I am so proud of him! He is so strong, so trusting and continues to be such a sensitive, helpful and loving brother and son. He's a fighter and he WILL beat this. Thank you, from all of us, for your support and love.
