IBC Female Competition Support

Tax deductible
We need your help! There's no doubt female boxing is growing in popularity. Islington Boxing Club is especially committed to developing and supporting female boxing. Islington Boxing Club has the biggest female squad in London and arguably in the country (20 competitive boxers registered).   Boxing is useful in so many different ways to so many different people; building confidence, repairing damaged self-esteem, developing skills, fitness and some of the most long-lasting and meaningful friendships there are.In my experience, the benefits of boxing are even more important for women, who often come to the sport after experiencing some kind of trauma or struggle in their lives, and who are often discouraged from participating in sport from a young age. Women’s amateur boxing was only made legal two decades ago, and only became an Olympic sport in 2012. It’s getting there, but it’s still way behind the men’s sport in terms of support, infrastructure, promotion and funding. Competition is the way we develop as boxers, and it’s the reason that most fighters train. But – and here’s the catch – it costs money. Travelling long distances to championships to get bouts and invaluable experience is expensive. There’s fewer of us, so fewer opportunities to compete locally than for men. So, the women’s squad at Islington Boxing Club needs your support and all donations to are gratefully received and go towards travel, competition, and developing the squad. Every little helps! Thank you so much for your support,  The Islington Ladies
