Help K-9 Maggie get a new vehicle

Donation protected
In late February of 2021 Officer Pike and K9 Maggie of the Village of Owego Police Department were involved in a minor accident. They are both okay but the K9 patrol car, a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria is not. Due to the age and condition of the vehicle, the insurance company deemed it to be a total loss. Conditions in Owego have dictated that a higher clearance vehicle with all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive would be necessary due to snow covered roads in the winter, and the yearlong threat of flooding of the village. Everyone has felt the impacts of COVID-19, and the small Village of Owego has certainly been impacted financially. With an already stretched budget, they are limited in options for a new K9 patrol car. We are looking for donors, both large and small to help fund K9 Maggie for all her needs, including a new patrol vehicle.

K9 Maggie’s story as we know it begins with her being found as a stray in Long Island. She was taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter where she was taken and returned twice. The Southern Tier Police Canine Association stepped in and evaluated her. They found she had what it takes to be a Police K9. Their skilled trainers took care of the training with no cost to the Village of Owego. They also donated a K9 kennel insert, and K9 Heat Alarm for the 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, which was still in good running shape but was beginning to show its age. Thanks to other donors, K9 Maggie was outfitted with the proper equipment needed for tracking and narcotics detection, in which she is currently certified. It has taken many hands to get K9 Maggie to where she is now, and we’re asking for a few more hands to help get her where she needs to be in her career. Please contact the Owego Police Benevolent Association to make a donation or donate through this site. Thank You!

The Owego Police Benevolent Association is helping to raise funds towards the overall equipment and care for K9 Maggie, including a patrol vehicle and it's special equipment, vet bills, unforeseen medical expenses, and other specialized equipment necessary for training and deployment.
