Hi Everyone!
For those of you who know my dad (John Wilson), you know what a selfless, strong, and caring man he is. I wanted to share his story that most of you may not know much about leading up to him being hospitalized with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
About 2 years ago, give or take, he fell down a flight of stairs and broke part of his lower back while trying to enjoy fathers day on Siesta Key. Since then he has taken it upon himself to continue to work 6-7 days a week doing contracting work (if you are in this business you know how taxing it is on your body.) I would say he honestly hasn't had a choice but continue to work hard because he has had NO help from the state which has caused an extreme amount of financial, mental, and physical stress on him personally and our family. He has continued to preserve through all of the pain he has endured, just so he can provide for everyone. He is not one to ever give up, give in, or complain. I have never seen anything like it. It has made us all worried as things got worse. You see he rather help people rather than be helped which is why he has kept most of this to himself.
Along with this back injury he ended up getting COVID-19 which has him hospitalized and on a ventilator. They gave him the medications that trump got as well as a blood transfusion with antibodies which have not shown to keep him stable or show improvement hence the need to be ventilated. This man has probably ever gotten sick once or twice in his life and has never been hospitalized, so this has our entire family in shock. I fear for his financial and physical wellbeing now more than ever. I know COVID 19 has impacted all of us in a way and we are by no means asking for a handout, just some help. Even just a little bit can go a long way. I am starting this go fund me because no one knows when he will be getting out of the hospital. Nurses have told me this could be weeks or even months. This will only add more stress to his circumstances initiated by his back injury and now the cherry topper: COVID. All of the funds will be used to help pay for his bills such as FPL, water, internet and his mortgage, with hope to save to help pay for medical bills now and in the future. We have no idea how this will affect him long term once he is out of the hospital and that is one of the biggest concerns moving forward.
