Friends of Nadia Oakley - Palliative Cancer Care

Donation protected
We’ve recently learned of some terribly sad news about our dear friend and colleague Nadia, who has been a key member of the BT Stoke family for many years.

Nadia was admitted to hospital on the 24th January with chronic stomach pains but following a series of tests, just a few days later, she was diagnosed with Secondary Liver Cancer which has sadly advanced at a phenomenal rate.
Prior to her hospital admission, Nadia showed no symptoms and was totally unaware anything was wrong.
This has been such a terrible shock for everyone and has been like a bad dream as more sad news followed each day.

Upon diagnosis, it had already advanced to a terminal stage.
Doctors were amazed at how quickly her health had declined and commented that they usually see this type of Cancer progress to this stage after 2 years, not 2 weeks.
The family have had so little time to come to terms with this, it truly is heartbreaking.

Nadia is currently receiving palliative care from the local Douglas MacMillian Hospice which is somewhere already very close to all of our hearts.
They are a truly amazing team of people and the support they give to all their patients and their families is second to none during end of life care.

Thankfully, Nadia was able to get her last wish of spending as much time as possible at home,  so she can treasure every last precious moment with her family beside her.

Naturally, all our love and prayers go out to Nadia, her husband Paul and her 2 young children, Tara and Paul Jr at this tragic time.

Please keep them in your thoughts as they go through these next few days. Every minute is so precious to them.

It’s been so difficult for them as their whole world has literally fallen apart in the space of just 2 weeks.  They are an extremely close family and always have been.  We can only hope that Nadia’s final days are as pain-free as possible.

Nadia is only 39, she was planning her 40th birthday in March this year.
Her and her husband Paul, have always been together ever since they were teenage sweethearts.
They have 2 beautiful children who mean absolutely everything to them both.

Nadia has always put her family first, above all else, and true to her loving, kind nature, she is still always thinking about them all first, even now.
She has been so brave and really is inspirational in the way she has handled things.  The whole family are so brave.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP

I wanted to set up this page to try and help support the much loved family as much as possible in such difficult times.

They have just had so little time to come to terms with what’s happening and still have many tough days ahead of them.
It’s just unimaginable to think about what they are going through right now.

The aim of this is to be able to support the immediate needs for Nadia, Paul and their children so that they can focus on this 100% without them having to worrying about anything else.

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

I understand there is a lot of heartache out there at the moment, both in terms of health and financially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but if you would like to make a donation, it would be massively appreciated.

Please feel free to share this page with anyone who knows Paul and Nadia.

They have given their consent to open this page and are deeply touched by how much people care.  They have received so many messages of love and support and have been reading them all.  Nadia is too poorly right now to reply to people and needs to spend her time loving her family, while she still can.

It’s with such a heavy heart that we write this. At times like this it is so difficult to know what to say, but we just want them all to know that we all care and are sending our love to them all.

Many Thanks
