Emma's ACL reconstruction and rehab
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Emma Congrave and I currently play for Worcester City Women. During a home league game against Kidderminster Harriers Women on the 25th of February, I suffered an injury to my knee. This was a massive concern as straight away I knew it was serious.
My parents paid for me to have a scan privately as the waiting list meant that I would have been waiting until the end of the year to find out the extent of my injury. This scan confirmed that I have ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). This injury requires surgery which has an extremely long waiting list through the NHS. This injury also requires 9-12 months of rehabilitation post-surgery: an extremely long process which is going to massively impact my future plans. This is an injury that I have always heard about, but that I never thought would happen to me. The cost of private surgery is £9,000 which would allow me to have this surgery in the next couple of weeks.
I am currently a final year student at the University of Worcester with a heavy workload and dissertation that I have been completing during this difficult time. I have been accepted as a PGCE student starting in September to complete my teacher training. This course involves a significant amount of time spent on placements in various schools: this is something that I would not be able to complete if I had to wait for surgery through the NHS.
As a result, I feel that paying for the surgery privately is my only option. I am asking for donations to help fund this surgery to help me continue with my future plans and to get me back to doing what I love most. Thank you
