Elliot’s 15 mile run for the kids ❤️

This is Elliot and this his mission to give something back to those who helped him and to those he saw around him who were fighting much bigger fights than he was.

When Elliot was a baby he was admitted in to York hospital with an uncontrollable high temperature, he’d suffered convulsions and was limp.  As a new Mum this was terrifying but with the wonderful care from the Doctors and Nurses at the York District Hospital it was soon diagnosed to be Tonsillitis and with some antibiotics, a couple of days later he was able to come home.

This has been a pattern that has occurred numerous times throughout his life now where he’s become so poorly from Tonsillitis, or an infected graze, or a bad virus that’s ended up covering him in an alarming rash- all of which have resulted in him needing that extra care from the York Children’s Ward and all their wonderful staff.

Getting older he’s realised that he in fact was one of the very lucky ones on the ward and has witnessed children in far worse situations and in his words “they’re a lot more poorly than me Mummy aren’t they- that’s bad Mummy, will they be ok?”

So this brings us to now. Whilst driving home from school Elliot started talking about his most recent stay on the children’s ward a couple of weeks ago. He began explaining he wanted to make the children there happy, to have more toys, a teddy each, a snuggly blanket- something to help make them feel better or make them smile. He said he didn’t like seeing the children there poorly and wanted to raise money to get them things.

“Mummy do you think I could run to raise some money for them? I’m really fast! Can we do that? I also want to a race to raise money for children who don’t have a home Mummy”

Elliot’s 8 years old.

After discussing possibilities he could do, I asked him how far he would like to run to help raise some money. His reply- “from York to Selby!”

That’s running 15 miles!

He will be starting his training for it this weekend and will run the 15 miles on Saturday 30th November 2019.

So from Us on the behalf of Elliot-

Please help this 8 year old boy who has the biggest heart put some smiles on the faces of other children who need it most.

Thank you,

From,

Elliot and his very proud family Xxx
