Elise's new heart

Elise is a vibrant 28 year old with a zest for life. She has a heart of gold, and is now in need of a new heart. On the day Elise and her twin sister were born, Elise was baptized and a Polaroid picture was taken with the fear that she wouldn't make the ambulance ride to Children's Hospital. Three weeks later she underwent her first of many heart surgeries. At age 7 she had open heart surgery that took twice as long as expected because her anatomy was so complex and unique. Double Outlet Right Ventricle was the diagnosis given to this beautiful child which would follow her throughout her life. Her positive attitude, amazing family, and faith in God has helped Elise defy all odds and live a full life. She was married last fall to Brad Koehler, has a career as a surgical tech, and has never let her illness define her. However, over the last 6 months Elise's condition has worsened and has taken a toll on the rest of her organs. Her doctors at UCLA have determined now is the time for a heart transplant. Elise will be living in the Los Angeles area awaiting a new heart. As you can imagine costs of surgery, living expenses, and travel for her family is exorbitant.
