Daniyal Partovi and Kori Garner are a couple who owns 'Partovi's Gyros & Falafel' in downtown Jonesboro.
On Thursday July 29th at 10:30pm, we were driving through Little Rock, AR in order to attend Kori's fathers' funeral (he had died from cancer just days beforehand), when we received a phone call from a friend whom was house sitting for us. He told us that our home was filling with smoke and that he had gotten our dog safely out the building and called 911. We turned around and didn't make it back to Jonesboro until almost 1am, thus arriving to witness our home being consumed by flames with everything we own inside. Clothes, appliances, cash, jewlery, family photos, business inventory, sentimental things, including Kori's fathers last possessions---all gone. It is a very strange feeling to wake up and realize that you don't even own a toothbrush to brush your teeth. Everyone in our community have been so great to us; by sending their condolences and offering up any type of help we might need and we could not be more proud and fortunate to be part of a tight knit community such as this. The fundraiser was created in order to help us recoup some of the losses we've endured. While we did have insurance, our policy only covers 25% of all that was lost and just 30 days of hotel stay, during which time we have to file and wait 3-8 weeks for the insurance to make their decision before we can begin looking for a new home. During this period, our business will be closed and will not be generating much needed financial support.
We realize not everyone will be in a position to make a donation, in which case simply sharing this post to your facebook, friends and family would be just as helpful to us.
