Feeding the Hungry

As many of you know we have three friends visiting us from Kenya right now that actually are stranded in this country because they have been taken advantage of by their travel agent. We were able to get one of them returned to his home and are working on return travel for the other two. However in the meantime the horrible drought in their country is causing terrible problems in their villages...their wives have had to take the cattle and sheep many miles to find grass to eat. The children are not going to school and staying in the village with the elders. The food is scarce as the cows and sheep are away from the village and people are beginning to die from the lack of food. These men sit at our table knowing that that their families soon also will have no food.  When they return to Kenya they can buy in the town maize and fat to feed the village.  One month for 600 people for $4000.00 as we have figured . At that time hopefully the rainy season will start and things will begin to turn around. They will send us receipts which we can post and pictures so that you will clearly see where the monies have gone ...We are aware that there are many scams out there and everyone is not personally involved as we are but we are very personally involved with these men one of which we have known now for about 15 years whom David met through Amnesty International wroking at NewTrier.
