It has always been a lifelong dream of our dad Robert Corner to own and restore a classic VW camper.
We have always kept an eye out and purchased camper themed gifts of all kinds to keep the enthusiasm alive and these decorate his house throughout.
Robert was diagnosed in the later half of 2018 with stomach cancer. Having been through his full treatment of chemotherapy the improvements had been steadily progressing in the right direction until the point we were able to accompany him to his final session when he was finally able ring the bell at maidstone hospital to make it official.
A few months later after awaiting a follow-up appointment with the hospital we recieved the news that none of us wanted to hear. The cancer had developed in both his kidneys and lower stomach. This news had taken us all back a step as it would for anyone.
A new range of treatment was on the table and as always Robert was ready to face it head on, never losing his humour for a moment. The treatment this time over had been a little more intense and had taken its toll significantly more than the first time, he became weak and run-down to a point in which we were called one day in early august and told he was in Resuscitation fading in and out of consciousness, we spent the day by the bedside fearing the worst.
Robert managed to gather his strength with the assistance of doctors and nurses and was brought round after more than 14 hours and placed in High dependency to recover. He did so all while keeping a smile on his face for the full 9 days despite the endless examinations, tests and family visits.
We are now out of the hospital and Robert is staying with family while he recovers even more. Recent news from the hospital has informed us that the second round of chemotherapy has not been successful in treating the cancer development and we are awaiting information and specifics on another set of chemotherapy accompanied by radiotherapy. Hoping for the best possible outcome.

Anything that you can spare will be greatly appreciated in fulfilling one of our Dads biggest dreams.
