Classroom Library in Honor of Bethany Schklar

At the bequest of Bethany Schklar's dear friend and colleague, The Moms for Social Justice Classroom Library Project will install a library in an Orchard Knob Elementary classroom in her honor. Many in our community knew and loved Bethany and this seemed a fitting tribute to an educator.
With the goal of encouraging and promoting literacy throughout Hamilton County schools and homes, the Chattanooga Moms for Social Justice will fund, install, and stock diverse libraries in Hamilton County over the next year, with the primary focus being on Opportunity Zone schools. It is the hope of Moms for Social Justice and the Classroom Library Project that these libraries not only include relevant and recently published works of children’s literature, but also be representative of the populations of children who will utilize them—teaching them more about the world and people around them and encouraging a love of reading.
