Autism Inclusiveness in the Church

Donation protected
We live in a time that caters to those who are neurotypical, while often those with Autism or other neurodivergence get pushed to the side and expected to adjust to the rest of the world. While neurotypical people take their ability to learn in a more streamlined fashion for granted, those with Autism and other neurodivergence are often approached with discomfort as they attempt to catch up with a fast-paced, rapidly chaining landscape.

Autism and Faith is a book I wrote (it’s done and ready to go) that becomes part of a conversation about how we can be more aware of those around us with neurodivergent needs and what we can do to level the playing field in the Church so that they can adequately express and live out their faith in a way that makes sense to them and promotes growth on all levels.

My name is Adam Wood. I’m a psychology student and a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. As the father of a son with Autism, I’ve seen life through a different lens. Being his dad has changed me and helped me see the world in a way that I never thought I would. I’m better for it.

When it comes to the book, we have publishing in place through a very large distribution system, but need some help to get it in front of enough people to truly make a difference.

We need to raise $2,500 to see this book and platform get off the ground. That covers the needed support for publishing, distribution,  and some marketing efforts. Anything above and beyond the initial $2,500 will go to marketing and help set up a digital (and eventually physical) community that will allow those with Autism and other neurodivergence to have a place to express themselves and their faith from a perspective that meets their needs.

Please consider being a part of this amazing project that God asked me to undertake last year. This is a topic that is near and dear to me and I would love to see others like my son grow up in a world that sees them as equal and values their voice without discomfort.
