Help to Keep and Stay at Home

Trying to help mom stay in her home. Mom is disabled. She had a massive stroke a few years back (it was so severe that the doctors wanted to remove her from life support) but she woke up! It was truly a miracle. However, the first stoke left her paralyzed on the right side. She needs care – she needs someone to help with all her day-to-day needs.

My dad recently passed away. She took this extremely hard. September they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. For years she cared for my father who was suffering his own battles with cancer – throat cancer. He could not eat or drink by mouth for over 28 years. Mom was his #1 supporter and care giver. Then her stroke happened. Dad became her #1 supporter and care giver. He grew an inner strength that amazed us all. The two of them were indeed medical miracles. They touched the lives of everyone they met. Anyone that knows them – knows this true.

Now we are faced with huge debts and the possibility of her losing her home. We need to pay delinquent bills left and right. We have to get the house insured! Hurricane season is upon us. Their previous insurance company dropped them. We need to make the home handicap accessible. She does not want to leave her home – the home where she shares so many memories and wants to make many more.
