Landen Lucas, current professional basketball player, former KU center 2012-2017 and Sports Illustrated 'Glue Guy' of the Jayhawks men's basketball team, along with his mother, Shelley Lucas, an educator and leadership development professional, started the Landen Lucas Foundation -Sports For Life Fund in 2017.
Landen knows the great value in the life lessons learned through sports and he wants to be sure that all students have the opportunity to participate and compete.
As an educator, Shelley sees the negtive impact on students who want to play sports but can't afford the fees or equipment. Studies show that financially underprivileged youth are missing out on the social and academic benefits of playing sports.
In our first year the Landen Lucas Foundation - Sports For Life Fund was able to provide scholarships for over 75 financially underprivileged youth. Our mission is to give access, opportunity and ongoing support to these youth and many more. With your donations, we can do just that!
