Shelly's Angel

On Friday July 31st, 2015, my mother, Shelly LeRoy was attacked by her dog, whom she owned for over 8 years. My mother is an animal lover, and never abused this dog. The dog, Sam, was a nice dog. He never bit anyone prior to the attack. He was always very sweet and loving. She called him, "my boy". He was an indoor pet, and often slept with my mom, and her husband, Matthew. Nothing brought on this attack, except the use of the word, "no". This is her side of the story: She was relaxing in the air up pool in her back yard, and her husband let the dog outside to use the bathroom. This pool is quite shallow. Sam came up to the side of the pool and put his paws up on the edge, trying to get in. She told him no, and he nipped her thigh.. It hurt, so she got up off of float up raft she was laying on to get out of the pool. He jumped in anyways. I won't get into gruesome details. A girl, who was mowing her lawn a block away, heard my mom crying out for help, so she rushed to see what was happening. The girl pounded on the front door, and thankfully my stepdad was inside. He got to my mom just in time to save her life..Needless to say, the attack left my mother in critical condition. She was life watched to Saint Francis in Wichita, not long after she arrived at Great Bend Regional Hospital and spent the night in ICU that Friday night. She has 4 wound vacs, and is on multiple IV antibiotics along with a pump for pain medication.  She has stitches all over her body, and packing in her leg. She will need plastic surgery.. Lots of skin grafting, wound care, and eventually physical therapy.
Today is Monday, and she goes in for exploratory sugery here in a couple of hours. We need help.. We need help paying for all the surgeries she has had and will have. They have scheduled her to go in every 3-4 days to have her wound vacs changed and her wounds irrigated to keep away any infection that could set in. She has worked so hard, all of her life for everything she has. She is a twinner at Superior Essex in Hoisington, and her job is very physically demanding. She will not be able to work for a long time.. She is the breadwinner in the family because my stepdad has multiple sclorosis and can't work.
Please help, we need as much support as we can get.
I want to thank everyone for all the prayers and positive thoughts sent her way.. I will add more text soon and give a full biography of her life.
Thank you so much for all the love and support.
Sincerely,
Rachel LeRoy.
