3D Printed Face Shields & supplies
Donation protected
We are in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic with the emergence of COVID-19. The NHS in the UK is doing its utmost to help us, but there appear to be several areas where the availability of vital PPE (personal protective equipment) isn’t yet fully available. I, like many other people, have access to a 3D printer at home, which can readily print the components for Face Shields. I have already started to print these, but in order to continue I need support. A reel of filament (the plastic the the 3D printer uses) costs about £20, and from this I estimate I can make around 30 face shields. I also use clear plastic sheets to create the vital transparent barrier, again another cost to add to the project. I need your funding to purchase additional supplies to keep production going. I’m lucky enough to be working from home, so have set up my printer to run all day long to produce these. The shields will be donated to local and national front line services who need them. All funding will go to the production of extra shields on my 3D printer. If sufficient funding is raised then I will consider adding an additional printer in order to double capacity and increase availability to the NHS. Any monies left over once the NHS is getting full PPE provision through official channels will be donated to The Sandpiper Trust, who support remote medical care in Scotland. See www.sandpipertrust.org for details on their brilliant work. The 3D design I am using is a recognised version that is in use all across Europe, it is fast to print and easy to disinfect, so is reusable where required in order to cut down on waste. Thanks for reading. Please donate if you can. I’ll post regular updates. Thanks, Elton
