Helping a good friend and family in need
To all our dear friends and
colleagues:
It is our hope that any of you
affected by Hurricane Sandy have withstood the aftermath of this unprecedented
storm, and are on a road to recovering for this devastating event.
Unfortunately, one of our dear
friends and former colleague was severely impacted. Mary Ellen Olsen, and her family, was not so fortunate. In the process of withstanding the
effects Sandy had on this beachfront community of Belle Harbor, an errant fire quickly
spread by the high winds, and unreachable by the FDNY because of the high
flooding, consumed her home and all her belongings. This included her Power
Chair and other essentials required by Maryellen to simply exist every day.
Mary Ellen, as many of you know
has special needs, along with the help of her family and friends, was
miraculously rescued from her home on a surfboard and kayak. Her husband Don (a retired FDNY hero),
and their 2 spectacular boys are now safe, however the Olsen family has lost
everything, including all the special needs equipment Maryellen needs to
survive each day.
As good friends to this wonderful
family, that has already endured so much past tragedy, we appeal to you for
assistance.
All proceeds will go directly to
Mary Ellen, Donald, Michael and Ryan.
We also understand that so many
of us many have friends and families that also have endured storm-related
setbacks, so we humbly ask that you do what you can for the Olsen's.
Anything you can do will make a
difference!
Thank you for caring and
generosity.
