WHAT DO WE DO?

The "Celebrate America Show" is three outstanding events all rolled into one show-stopping package: Dinner, Big Band Show and Dance.  The evening includes the delicious buffet dinner, Big Band Show, and entertainment after! During the sumptuous dinner, you'll enjoy music by our excellent combo. Then, brace yourself for a fast-paced toe-tapping Broadway-style show, starring the Stardust Singers, Stardust Dancers, and 17-piece orchestra that take you back-in-time to the 1940's.

You'll see for yourself why Glenn Miller and his music are so beloved as you enjoy his timeless music along with Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman- all the swing bands of the era. And that's not all- after the show be sure to stick around as the band and singers perform your favorite Glenn Miller era tunes.  You can dance or just enjoy listening!

Sentimental Journey

In our 15th year, we will be taking our audience on a "sentimental journey" back to the 1920's and continuing all the way through to the golden age of the 1940's. We will revisit America's musical past from ragtime to big band swing as we well tell the story of the early America immigrants who helped contribute to our rich musical history. Musical numbers will feature the Best of the Best from or first 15 years including the music of Al Jolson, Shirley Temple, Will Rogers and, of course, the legendary Glenn Miller himself. We will also celebrate the men and women of the armed forces with our annual WWII musical tribute.

To make this event even more spectacular, we have included the fabulous talents of  the incredible A Cappella group The4Hims, and the amazing Logan Irish dance company An Tús Nua.

To help pay tribute to those military personnel, we have partnered with Utah Honor Flight to assist in sponsoring several World War II veterans for a 3 day trip to Washington D.C. in September. This is a wonderful organization and a very worthy cause and we are thrilled to be a partner in this effort!

The Freeman Award

In celebration of our 15 year anniversary, we will be presenting a special financial contribution to a deserving organization called Utah Honor Flight.  The purpose of the Utah Honor Flight is to send World War II veterans on a trip to Washington D.C. to visit the WW II memorial.  It is a non-profit organization that serves not only World War II veterans, but other veterans of war as well.  We are partnering with the Utah Honor Flight to honor 4 specific war veterans and their families here in The Intermountain West.  A different veteran and their families will be highlighted at each of our dinner show events.  Each family will be invited to attend the Celebrate America Show and receive a financial donation on behalf of their loved one.  We will also feature this award recipient through a special presentation at the beginning of each of our shows in September. The recipient of this award will also receive a special plaque and a donation will be given to the Utah Honor
Flight in their honor.

The purpose of this special recognition is to preserve the legacy of  veterans of war.  We know that there are countless stories of men and women who have made special contributions and sacrifices to their country and community.  We want to tell these individual stories and recognize these brave individuals and their families in honor of all the men and women who sacrifice for our country.

Educational and Community Outreach

We will continue to reach out to local area schools to present special musical assemblies that expose young children to the dynamic music of 1940's big band swing. Our singers also make visits to area care facilities and nursing homes in the valley to present vocal swing harmony to a generation of individuals who appreciate this style of music as much as anyone. Also in January, we will begin offering several music theater classes to young people between the ages of 8-18. Come join us!

Our History

The Celebrate America Show (or CAS) was first produced in September, 1999. The original motivation of the founders was to offer a patriotic musical event in correspondence with the annual Constitution Week celebration in Logan, Utah. The first Celebrate America Show featured several performers and musicians including local singers, dancers and the ever popular Crestmark Orchestra.

Since its beginning 15 years ago, Celebrate America has grown and evolved into a professional evening of big band entertainment as well as a stirring tribute to the brave men and women of the armed forces. The week-long event is held annually in September at the Utah State University ballroom. It includes dinner catered by USU Catering Services as well as a nostalgic, patriotic themed floor show featuring the Stardust Singers, Dancers and Ballroom Dancers as well as other specialty artists. After the floor show, the evening also includes dancing the night away with the 1940's big band music provided by the talented Larry Smith Orchestra.
