Make Evan's Life Amazing!

Donation protected
Our 12 year old son Evan,  has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Duchenne is 100%  fatal .... on average by late teens to mid 20s. Between now and then,  Evan will lose his ability to walk,  hug us,  feed himself and breathe on his own .  At present, there is no cure. .....We are in a race against  time.
In the meanwhile, Evan has dreams like any other 12 year old boy.   He wants to grow up and become a chef, an astronaut, a professional gamer.  He loves Ferraris and roller coasters......anything that moves his fragile  body fast.   Evan has taught our family the precious gift of living life in the moment.....and every day, we try and make his life more amazing than the last.
Next year will be Evan's first year of middle school.  He is nervous about how he will appear to other kids and wants a mobility scooter that looks cool, he says, "like a Ferrari",  (his favorite car).  Something to get him around school and rugged enough to help him keep up with friends while outside, or  on uneven terrain..  Evan's dream "all terrain mobility scooter", that he found online, costs $5,000 dollars.  We promised him we would try to get it for his first day in the sixth grade.

We built our house years before Evan's diagnosis.  It is not handicap accessible and we need help to make Evan's life easier, happier and safer. Because we live near a river and in a flood prone area, our home was constructed on pillars and is accessible only by stairs. Evan cannot walk up or down stairs and must be carried .  This is embarrassing to  Evan and he  desperately needs a safe, handicap accessible elevator to get him up to his front door.  A local elevator company has offered to install him one at cost, for $10,000 dollars.

Lastly,  Evan's bedroom and bathroom need remodeling for handicap accessability.    On May 27th, Evan fell in the shower, fracturing his femur.  We are hopeful but unsure if he will walk again.   He needs a large, safe, handicap accessible shower. We have been given an estimate of $4,000 dollars to do this.  His bedroom was also constructed much too small to accommodate his disability and needs.  It's difficult for a boy with such severely restricted abilities, who is fast approaching his teenaged years, to find independence.  Because most of his interests are computer and gaming related, we want him to have his very own room where he can feel proud to entertain his friends.  A local contractor recently gave us an estimate of $11,000 dollars to widen his bedroom with an additional  8x8 feet of  private living space.  For more information on Evan,  please go to www.saveourson.org ‌.
