Jessica (USA) and Maria (Finland) are very much in love. They have been dating for almost three years and have been engaged since the summer of 2013. They were making plans to apply for a fiancee visa to allow Maria to live in the United States with Jessica before their marriage. But then plans changed.
In the last two weeks, an amazing opportunity has arisen. Jessica has been offered a one year transfer to Toronto, Ontario. Her employer will even sponsor Maria's visa into Canada. But only if they are married!
Jessica's employer will help with the move to Canada but getting Maria to California will be their responsibility. And it has to happen soon. Jessica is scheduled to start at the Toronto studio in mid-October/early November. Recent events (emergency vet bills, a funeral requiring international travel) have left them in a financial low point. If this move had come at the end of the year, it would be no problem. But it doesn't, so they're scambling every resource they have to fly Maria to San Diego on short notice.
