Giving back to Louie
Donation protected
Louie is the furry son of two of the most charitable, and giving individuals we know. Together, this team of therapy human and dog, licensed by Therapy Dogs Incorporated, give of their time and loving comfort to endless patients and staff at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. However, this therapy pup has been fighting his own battles off the job:
Louie was diagnosed with metastatic gastric plasmacytoma in February 2014 after a gastrointestinal bleed that he nearly died from. He has been going through extensive treatment to fight the cancer plaguing his body including a surgical resection of the tumor, and continuous treatment with a daily chemotherapy pill. He has been recovering well, still frequenting the bedsides of countless strangers without a complaint about his own, invisible health battle!
In a tragic turn of events, our beloved boy was viciously attacked by an aggressive dog yesterday (09/18), suffering numerous deep wounds. Louie underwent surgery last night to have the wounds cleaned out and drains placed in them to facilitate healing. His doctor has stopped his lifesaving chemotherapy to focus on healing his new injuries.
With out of pocket medical costs already totaling $7,500 suffocating the bank account of his dear parents, the medical staff of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center is joining efforts to bring some financial air back to this family. Please join us as we give back to save Louie.
With love & gratitude,
Louie's L&D Medical Family
