This is Tommy Davidson. You may know him from the numerous tournaments that he has played in Newbern, Union City, Martin and Mayfield. Or you may know him from the Paris Fish fry Tournament where he repairs pool sticks for the players. You may even know him from his hometown of Akron, OH, which he moved from in 1984. Or maybe you don't know him at all. Let me tell you his story.....
On Tuesday September 9, 2014, he went to a clinic to check out the pain that he had been having in his left side. Thinking that it was a pulled muscle, it was just another day. He never knew that he would eventually be told that he was having a heart attack! With no insurance, he was airlifted to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. He received the care that they could provide him there and eventually was airlifted again, but this time to Vanderbilt in Nashville. He received a quadruple bypass and was touch and go the following two days. On September 18, he awoke and was weaned from the ventilator! He has been talking to his girlfriend and finally allowed to eat again. This is great news right? Agreed. However, he now is going to have to go back to Lourdes in Paducah to receive rehab. All of this equals tons of medical bills that he, and most of us, simply cannot pay on our own. Having just buried his father only 3 weeks prior, the burden of bills have fallen on his mother and himself.
I am asking that we all pull together as human beings and help a fellow human being. I realize that times are tough for everyone right now, but even a $5.00 donation will go a long way. These donations will be used toward a weekend long benefit that we are having in Tommy's honor on November 8 and 9. We are hopeful that between these donations and the benefit, we might at least make a small dent in his medical expenses. Thanks so much in advance!
