Chilé volunteer trip

Hello! I'm grateful that you are even taking the time out of your day to read about this incredible opportunity that I am trying to raise money for. I go to the University of Colorado at Boulder and i'm studying Philosophy (law and society track, of course) and political science. I recently came across a Facebook post on the CU Fly Fishing Club page about a volunteer trip that is going to Chilé from December 27 to January 11. The trip starts with ten days of volunteer work for the extremely impoverished, done in the city of Santiago. The work consists of going throughout the entire struggling community, visting and fixing up the locals homes and helping them in any other ways they might need. After the ten days in Santiago volunteering we will fly even further south into Patagonia to the city of Balmaceda. From there the group will rent a van and travel through the mountains to remote rivers and streams camping and living simply with one thing in mind: catching fish. Yes, after the ten days of volunteering in the city the remainder of the trip consists of fly fishing in the wilderness of Chilean Patagonia.

Before you think to yourself, "i'm not going to pay for someone to go on a fishing trip," let me explain a few details and why I am asking for $2,500 instead of the actual price of the trip of around $3,500. Fly fishing is my passion. I have a profound fascination with catching fish and especially traveling to do so. Being on the water fly fishing is crucially theraputic in my life and I cherish every minute of it. However, I realize that asking for the entire amount needed to get me down to South America cannot be justified, because I will be fishing and not volunteering the whole second half of the trip. Therefore, all I am asking for is the cost I must pay to Creatio Missions (see below) to participate and a portion of the cost of the international travel. That way, you are paying for me to go help the people who need it and I am taking out of my savings to pay for my fly fishing adventure. Seem fair? I hope so!
