Hello Beautiful People!
"Live your truth. Express your love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. Dance and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering."
"• Steve Maraboli,
I have been accepted to Teach in Vietnam! Please help me reach my financial goal for accepting the program and buying my plane ticket roundtrip. I greatly appreciate all of the help I can get.
I have been to Thailand, Brazil,Nigeria,India,Guyana,Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas for service work
and pleasure trips where I learned and experienced living within that culture. I have lived in Atlanta,GA for four years where I matriculated at Spelman College and received a BA in Philosophy. My passion for service and education has led me back home to NY with an educational non-profit. Now is the time for me to return to the Asian continent on my backpacking excursion to collect knowledge from various communities where I am sure to find home.
As you all may know I am pursuing a PhD in Philosophy.I have a writing sample to complete when applying for this 5-7 year program. I am currently taking two years off before applying and fulfilling my life with more experiences.I am currently serving in IS 204, Queens as a City Year New York Corps member. I am passionate about quality of living. Through my service
in Long Island City,I have returned with a fresh set of eyes, eyes that now see the intersections of health, education, violence and poverty.
The systematic oppression of colored communities has created huge generational cycles of poverty from Atlanta to Queens to Cochin. Its past time for change but the good news is no one is ever too late to start!
I want to study the cross cultural connections between the communities I've lived in across the Globe and Nation. I have various topics circulating in my mind for my writing sample.
Please help me make my way back to Asia to connect my philosophical studies to current issues facing youth all around the world.
I will return ready to serve you all with a fresh new pair of eyes once again and even better you will also gain insight.
Peace&Blessings,
Shapel LaBorde
