Hi y'all!
I have recently been accepted into the Wisconsin In Scotland Program through University of Wisconsin- River Falls! I am so excited to be studying in Scotland for spring 2015. For those of you who don't know, I love to travel but have never been out of the United States. I have always wanted to go to Europe and was finally allotted the opportunity through this program.
A little background on me: I am a junior at UW-Whitewater. I am studying to be an English teacher at the middle or high school level with a film studies minor. I currently work at a daycare with little kiddos but my passion is with young adults. I aspire to help them through reading young adult literature and writing about the world around them and the issues they face.
Why the Wisconsin in Scotland Program: It is truly the match for me! I will be living in Dalkeith House, for those of you who do not know the house was once a palace. That's right! A PALACE! Through this program, I am fortunate enough to study British literature in Britain which will be a wonderful experience. I will also be taking a course on Scotland itself, learning about the beautiful country I will have the opportunity to explore over the spring semester. Along with studying in Scotland I will be given many opportunities to explore other locations in Europe. With two extended weekends and a spring break, I hope to travel to Ireland at some point. Traveling to Ireland has been one of my dreams ever since I was young. I hope to spend my spring break there drinking in the culture; I am part Irish so this would be a fantastic chance for me to learn a bit more about my heritage. I am also a huge Titanic fanatic. I hope to visit the Titanic memorial museum while in Ireland, which is located in Belfast.
This is where you, my lovely friends, family, and possibly generous strangers, can help. There are a few costs I need help covering in order to make all these dreams and studies come true. My goal is to raise $2,000 to help cover the following expenses:
Airfare to Scotland: $1,000
European Travel: $500
Extra Expenses while Abroad: $500
