The weather is getting chilly, a sure sign winter is nearing and the holiday season is not far behind. "The most wonderful time of the year" isn't wonderful for everyone. There are plenty of moms and dads in the Rock River Valley who long to see their children's faces light up on Christmas morning.
That's why the Empty Stocking Club is so important in our community. Many times at the annual toy distribution, parents tell us they can't believe they can't afford something for their children.
Parents and guardians in the Rock River Valley register their children, and the toys are distributed on a set day -- this year, Dec. 10. The toys are given to the adults in dark bags so the children can't see what's inside. In 2015 more than 3,300 children were registered to receive a gift.
We want to help keep the magic of Christmas alive by giving to these children. Please consider donating to this cause to help make this holiday season wonderful for many more local children.
