Our Dad was an amazing individual - a devoted husband, loving father and doting Papa who treasured family above all else. During his 40-years as a community dentist, Dad was known as a gentle individual, loved by patients and staff. Striving every day to provide the utmost in care, he improved the smiles of thousands of people.
In retirement, he happily pursued his favorite passions – teaching Chinese cuisine, leading historic tours of Newport, and staying fit through a healthy active lifestyle.
Dad loved to bicycle. And when he died tragically in June 2012, he was riding the roads he loved adjacent to the beaches he loved – a road now graced with a much safer dedicated bike lane.
We know that the bike lane, too late for our father, is the promise of a safer cycling experience for future riders. We want to see more progress in Newport, Rhode Island and across Aquidneck Island.
Our hope above all is that the annual Elliot Kaminitz Fathers Day Ride will honor our father, raise awareness of bike safety initiatives, and raise funds needed to make these improvements happen.
Thank you for supporting more, better and safer cycling! And for helping to keep our father’s legacy alive. Please help us reach our goal to conitinue this quest!
