Ellie's fight with Leukemia

Donation protected
Hello, we are a ballet class from Jan Cox School of ballet in Park Street, St Albans. One of our classmates, Ellie Brewer, who some of us have been dancing with for 10 years since we were 3, has been diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia this year. She has been in hospital in London since February and has already had 2 five day sessions of intensive chemotherapy to try to reduce the mass.

However, she is now needing to have a bone marrow transplant to help cure her, and is currently at home, but needs to travel up to London for all the tests required before her next operation. She will be going back into hospital in June for further chemotherapy and then to have the transplant in July, and will need to stay in hospital for a further 8 weeks after the operation to recover.

Here is why we are asking for your help:

Her Mum, Loraine, is self-employed and has had to give up the majority of her income to be with Ellie and support her through this difficult time;
The family now have numerous additional costs such as:
Travelling up to London for tests while Ellie is at home, or to visit her in hospital;
Food costs – as the hospital food is so poor, there are additional costs of having to buy Ellie food while in hospital to try to keep her strength up;
Tutoring costs – Ellie has not been able to go to school since February half-term, and due to the bone marrow transplant operation, will not be allowed back until next January;
Family holiday – the family have had to cancel two holidays already due to Ellie’s illness, so it would be lovely to be able to help them afford a very special family holiday once Ellie is well enough to do so;
We really miss Ellie at ballet, and can’t wait for her to be back, but in the meantime we want to do what we can to help.
Her school friends have been doing great work raising money for Cancer Research, and have recently taken part in the Mud Run. So we wanted to help in a different way. As well as the very important matter of raising money for Cancer Research, we know that the family are also needing financial help to get them through this difficult time.

Could your family cope with losing one income? Could your family cope with the additional costs and stress of having a child with cancer? PLEASE HELP by donating what you can. Ellie and her family will appreciate any amount you are able to give. Any additional money raised above what the family need to cover their extra costs, will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Thank you for reading Ellie’s story. Please help by donating if you can, and by sharing this with your friends, so that we can raise as much money as possible to help our friend and her family.
