Ella's medical emergency

Donation protected
Ella is a 7 year old American Eskimo dog who is owned by my good friend Caitlin. Ella is currently hospitalized for a collapsed lung lobe. Unfortunately, we don't know the exact cause, but we think she may have a rare form of pneumonia.

Caitlin takes unbelievable care of Ella; she is up to date on all her vaccines and preventatives, gets annual checkups, and lives the good life. We aren't sure what elicited her collapsed lung lobe or pneumonia, but as one of Ella's veterinarians, I can tell you that it is not anything that could have been foreseen, predicted or prevented.

When Ella got sick, Caitlin pulled out all the stops to get her the medical attention she needed. She has approved every veterinary recommendation, including full bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasounds, and even anesthesia for a CT scan and bronchiolar wash. She has seen three veterinarians: her daytime vet, the ER and now a specialist. Unfortuantely, Ella is not a straight forward case, so it has been difficult to obtain a definitive diagnosis.

As you can imagine, veterinary bills are piling up (literally in the thousands), and unlike human medicine, veterinary medicine requires all payment up front without any insurance reimbursement. Caitlin has tapped into her emergency funds, credit cards, care credit account, and savings to help Ella, and she has not complained  even once. Her response is always "do anything to save my best friend."

Caitlin doesn't know I'm doing this. She never asked for it. (I doubt she even thought about it because she is such a selfless person). I was just hoping a few friends could pitch in any monetary support you can afford to help Caitlin and Ella. Even if it's 5 or 10 bucks, every little bit helps and is appreciated. I know if it were me and my dog, anything would be appreciated. No one expects a huge medical emergency for a family member, whether it be two-legged or four-legged! And no matter how much we think we prepare for it, the financial aspect can be extremely stressful.

Ella is currently hospitalized on IV fluids and antibiotics while more tests are pending. She will likely me there at least several more days. She is making improvements each day! She is more energetic, starting to eat again, coughing less, and barking at the staff to be held and pet. She is one of the sweetest dogs I know.

Please email me with any questions, and thanks for donating even a few bucks if you can!
