A Little Help for Pawel/Kristi

It's true what they say: the best things in life are free. There is no time that this simple phrase seems more poignant than in moments of personal disaster. Yet, in life, things have a cost, and in many ways, many of our things are worth much more than the money we paid for them, and their loss still sets us back in ways we tend to try not to imagine.
I'm setting up this page to try and help out two of my greatest friends, Kristi and Pawel. They recently went through a horrifying and humbling experience when the house they are renting caught fire, leaving much of their belongings damaged or ruined entirely.
Everyone is safe, and myself and all of our friends and families are beyond thankful for that, but the loss of much of what was becoming their first real home together is nothing short of heartbreaking.
Kristi and Pawel are two of the most generous people I know. They are always willing to give a helping hand (with the necessary and highly entertaining fake grumblings and never-collected-upon demands of IOUs). They (along with their new golden retriever pup, Percy) recently opened their home to me not once, not twice, but three times, when some sudden and unexpected life changes left me scrambling for a place to stay. Under a month ago, I was sleeping on the very couch they now no longer have.
They have not asked for help, and I imagine they never would, but as one of many of their friends currently feeling lost and helpless as to what I can do, I believe that this can be a way that we can all come together to try and give them a little helping hand.
Any small help that you can give will be infinitely appreciated, and even if you cannot help by donating, sharing the page with those you know can do wonders.
Both Pawel and Kristi are long-time members of the Carbondale community, both proud alumni of SIU. Kristi currently works for the university as a teacher at Rainbow's End, and Pawel is working toward becoming a Carbondale Police Officer.
