For the past 2 years, Erica has been working toward legal separation from her estranged husband, whom she has been separated from since 2007. This has been one of the most challenging periods in her life as the divorce has been heavily contested and has put her son in the middle of a difficult custody battle. Many details about the case cannot be revealed in an online forum since the case is still in court, but suffice it to say her ex has gone out of his way to make this as difficult a process as possible both emotionally and financially, up to and including the withholding of child support throughout.
Since the case began, Erica has been working with a lawyer who, it turns out, has been taking her money while using unethical and possibly illegal tactics. When this was discovered, the lawyer dropped her case without notice, leaving Erica scrambling to find a new one by deadline or else have to start the entire process over again. Erica was able to find new representation, but only has until October 1st to pay the new lawyer a minimum $3,000 retainer in order to continue to make her court dates.
To complicate things, Erica was laid off last year and has been using her savings to pay for legal fees and basic necessities, which she can no longer do. Erica is not one to reach out, and if it was just about her, she wouldn’t ask for help or allow anyone to even know that she was in such a desperate situation, however this is about the safety and security of her family and there is nothing Erica would not do to take care of her son. So, on behalf of Erica and Wylnd, I am asking for contributions to raise money for the legal retainer so that she can make her court dates and put this painful process behind them. Any little bit will help Erica and Wylnd get the representation they so desperately need so that they can finally put an end to this incredibly difficult chapter of their lives. Any additional money donated after the retainer is met will go toward continuing legal fees.
