Help Us Print THE HHWW Review!

Over the past 9 months, The Honey Hive Writer's Workshop has been hard at work writing poems, short stories, verses, songs, plays, comedy routines, and generally amazing pieces of literature. As a group of roughly 25-30 writers, we have all come together to share our writing with one another and keep the dream of creative community alive in San Francisco. This workshop has served as a haven for those who want to bare their souls for one another in this fantastic, accepting, and constructive environment. We have discussed our heartbreaks, our passions, and our fears together. Friendships and breakthroughs have been made. Wine and tears have been spilt. Many many many stories have been told.

And now, the HHWW has put together a fantastic review that we want to share with you!

"Collective Hum: The First Incarnation" brings together a diverse array of writers from around the Bay Area, all of whom have diligently attended workshop with the goal of readying their work for the public eye. Part literary review and part creative tool, this roughly 75-page book will bring readers into the workshop process. It not only provides you with completely fresh new literary work, but it also contains some of the workshop's very own writing prompts and suggestions for creative inspiration. It can be used as a teaching tool, a writing tool, a great book to enjoy, or all of the above!

Q: "So why do you need funding?"

A: Not only do books cost money to print, but our workshop costs money to house. In order to keep workshop costs low for our writers, The Honey Hive Gallery has given us Tuesday nights for practically a year and made virtually no money off of this event. The only reason we charge anything at all for workshop is to make sure that the Gallery's rent gets paid. As the founder and curator of the workshop, I am not paid to facillitate, nor am I paid to commute once a week.... but I do it anyway, because I care about this workshop. (And that's not even bad. We have people that come all the way from Albany.)
Q: "If I do decide to fund you, where will my money go?"

A: Most of the copies of this review will go to family and friends, as well as the workshoppers themselves, but any additional proceeds will go to help keep the doors of The Honey Hive open. This is something that is a real and present concern, as The Honey Hive is still in its first year of business and struggling to keep its involvement in the creative community going strong.

Q: "What is the exact cost breakdown?"

A: It is estimated that the review will cost an estimated $350 to print (~75 pages through diggypod.com). The reason that our goal is $400 is because GoFundMe takes a percentage of what we make, even if we reach our goal. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM THAT WE WILL NEED. If we decide to do anything in color, the price may go up. If it comes out to more than 75 pages, the price may also go up. How nice we are able to make this book will depend entirely on the contributions we get.

Q: "What if I decide not to fund you?"

A: If we do not reach this goal, the review does not get printed and all of our hard work is for naught.

Q: "How are you paying for everything else (besides printing)?"

A: We're not. All of our editing, layout work, book art, and type design is being done for free by some wonderful friends of the gallery and the workshop. All we need is your help for is to get this out into the world!

Q: "What am I getting out of this?"

A: We have some wonderful incentives for those who donate, including advance copies of the book, digital downloads (so you can read/share it on your phone or tablet), as well as free admission to our workshop, free admission to other Honey Hive events (including music shows, art openings, and/or other workshops), hand-written thank-you letters from our writers, as well as, of course, endless love and gratitude from the Honey Hive Writer's Workshop.

Please help us get this review printed and keep this wonderful group going strong!
Much love and gratitude,

HHWW
