Carmen's Fund

Hi everybody! My name is Carmen and my mommy and daddy brought me home from El Paso Animal Services (where I was brought in as a stray and most people only knew me as B8, my kennel number) on September 11, 2014. I'm a happy-go-lucky, 10 month old German Shepherd mix. I love my new home, my new parents, and even my new older sister, Kita the cat.

Before my mommy was able to commit to adopting me, a lot of people insisted on helping get me out of the shelter because I was going to be sent to get euthanized soon. While she was very grateful for the offers, my mommy gets uncomfortable and scared asking for help, even when it is offered.

But, a couple of days after coming home, my mommy noticed that I was sleeping too much and my bathroom routine was pretty irregular. She took me to the animal emergency room, and they diagnosed me with something called "giardia". The vet there says that this is a somewhat common thing for shelter-adopted pups like me, and that I should make a full recovery once I'm done taking the medicine they gave me, but my mommy still has to take me to the vet after to make sure that I'm fully recovered.

After that, I still have to undergo precautionary testing for parvo and heartworms, as well as get the preventative shots they didn't give me at Animal Services. Mommy will be taking me in soon to get all of this done.

A new friend of Mommy's suggested making a page like this, just in case anyone still wanted to help out. If they don't, that's okay, too! All mommy and I ask is that you keep my speedy recovery (and negative results on both my parvo & heartworms tests) in your thoughts and prayers.
