Martinez Family Flood Recovery

Originally, my mom created this campaign to help us in the wake of the massive flooding that hit the phoenix valley last September.  Our home was ransacked by flood waters in the middle of the night, and we left as soon as we could safely get to the car.  When we returned the  next day, we quickly realized we had lost nearly everything in a flash. This was the home that we brought our baby girl home to,  that we had built our lives in for nearly 2 1/2 years.  It has been 10 months since this happened, and we are still trying to find our way, we are yet to find a place of our own that will accomodate our needs and apease our budget, and still in the mode of collecting basic household items that were lost in the flood.   We are so grateful for all of the donations up to date and thankful for people who take time out of their day to share our campaign, or to show us kindness with prayers and positive thoughts.  Christoher and I are always willing to lend a helping hand, where we are needed, and feel blessed to receive the same, when we have needed it most.

On Monday, September 8th my daughter Jasmine, granddaughter Azalea and her father Christopher awoke just after 3am, to find that water was coming in from all points of entry. What had started as an alarm to begin the work day changed quickly as they realized that their home was quickly flooding. They immediately shut down their electricity,and evacuated as the water was pouring in fast and approaching the electrical sockets. After an asthma induced emergency room trip, they returned to find their clothes, bikes, instruments, and other belongings floating, scattered and already smelling terrible, the couches and curtains were wicking contaminated water and the wood legged furniture was swelling and food was contaminated by water or spoiled by lack of refridgeration.They pumped the remaining water out as much as possible and began to sort and to save what was salvageable. 

They are renters, a young family just getting on their feet having lived at this house for the past three years and now most all of their personal belongings have been destroyed. They have been forced to leave their home and need to find a new place to live effective immediately. Currently their pets are separated and this makes their family divided.
