Funeral/Memorial Costs

Donation protected
On September 11, 2014, around 8:30pm, Harold Holz passed away as his daughter, Spring, is saying her goodbyes over the phone (as she is driving home from college). He is surrounded by his wife (Lois), daughter (Autumn), and multiple close friends and family. Harold had his 71st birthday on August 17, 2014, but has been very sick for quite a few years.

While looking through papers and making multiple phone calls, we have come to the conclusion that his life insurance policies are of no value anymore. AARP says because he hasn't paid since 2013. My mom took over finances when my dad got worse and I don't know if she didn't know or he didn't tell her or what the situation may be, but we now have to pay for any services out of pocket.

Here is a little history of my father, Harold Holz:
-He had a hip replacement on March 3, 2003 and needed the other one done, but never got it
-He had 3 stents put in his heart in 2010
-He had an aneurysm in his stomach in 2010
-Harold is married to Lois Holz and they would have been celebrating their 39th anniversary on October 11 of this year
-He was a foster parent for many years and adopted the three girls that are now his: Spring (21), Autumn (19), and Monica (27)
-Harold and Lois never had biological children, but rather held a foster home and acted as extended family for neighborhood kids and daughters' friends
-He was a member of the Auxillary Police Force in both Milwaukee and Brown Deer (while he was walking)
-He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, and lawncare, but he stopped doing those activities a few years ago
-He stopped walking in June 2011 and worked hard to get his strength back, but unfortunately never did

Our top three choices for my dad's services are:

1) Initial plan: Hold a funeral at Krause in which his body is viewed and then a service/prayer followed by a luncheon at our home. He will be creamated and there will be a close family burial when he is ready.
(This option is the most costly, at $7000 (even though this is still pretty conservative considering other options with the funeral home).)

2) *after both a and b, we will do a luncheon at our home and a close family burial
a) Visitation with a viewing of his body at a nearby Lutheran Church
b) Have a prayer/memorial/service with his ashes present after creamation
(This option would cost around $2000. We still do owe the funeral home money for the services already provided. This option is a more financially plausible choice.)

3) We will hold a luncheon/memorial at our home and after he is creamated, we will have a service near his burial site (up north, Wisconsin) with another luncheon and then his burial.
(This option would also cost around $2000. Again, we owe the funeral home money for services provided. This option is also more financially plausible.)

We really need those who are able to donate any amount of money to make his memorial take place. We are in no financial place to support this sort of memorial that he deserves and we need your help to do it.

UPDATE 9/15/14:
