Medical Bills & Living Cost

Dear Friends,

Many of us never think we’ll have to lean on other people in a time of desperate need. We never really think about how life would be if we were sick and confined to a hospital bed or facing a major surgery. It’s just one of those things that seems to happen to other people or sometimes to those we love, but not to us.

Well, now, it’s happened to me.

If you’ve been a friend on Facebook, you’ve seen my posts about my 16-day hospital stay and the progress I began to make in some ways. Today, I would like to give you an update to add to the entries below and plead for your help.

I was released from the hospital on Friday, September 6th to heal from pneumonia so that once the infection in and around my lungs is gone, I can safely be put to sleep for two major procedures and a major surgery. This surgery would be to repair my hiatal hernia (a hole in the top of my diaphragm). During surgery, the surgeon will also re-attach my stomach to where it should sit inside my abdomen. Until this is fixed, I will continue have great difficulty keeping a meal down, as my hernia and “floating” stomach, stretched esophagus has caused terrible acid reflux, leading to coughing spells, and fluid build-up around my lungs.

If you are self-employed or an independent contractor, you know that our “affordable health-care” has not been so affordable. As it is, I have been uninsured for years and not had health problems at all – until now. As a self-employed Director of Sales and Professional Photographer, I have not had work provide insurance for nearly 10 years.

So, I am asking for your help and a favor. In order to get health-care coverage, I need to raise a deposit and monthly payment to get started. I have reached out to Samaritan’s Health, a health-care sharing network and have learned that my up-coming surgery could be covered as a paying member. That means I must come up with $200 to sign up, $180 for the first month and each month after that.

My living expenses are minimal each month, which includes my rent, utilities, car payment etc.

As my friends, would you consider saving your “coffee or McDs money” for the next couple of months and helping me to

Get healthcare coverage, pay rent, car payment and utilities etc. and set a payment plan with the hospital to pay for my 2 week stay thus far.

Please see below for the updates I posted for more information. Your donation of any any amount would be deeply appricated.

The major surgery I need will take 6-8 weeks of recovery time so I will not be able to perform my duties in sales or photography for the next 3 months.

I hope to be on my feet and back to work soon after that and your help would be tremendous.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me or call at [email redacted] or [phone redacted]

Thank you – from the bottom of my heart.

Continued Prayer Request.
After 10 long days in the hospital multiple x-rays, CAT scans, intense antibiotics, pain meds, and several units of blood I'm ready to be healed and go home. I ask everyone on the Sunday to please, please continue to pray that my Heavenly Father will continue to lay his hands upon me and heal my body and take away the sickness and pain. Thank you one and all for your Prayers, Support, Thoughts, Comments etc..

Well after 9 days I'm still here and sick. Chest tube was removed Friday morning. However my red blood count is low so now I'm about to receive two units of blood and still may be here for another day or two who knows. Not quite the place I expected to be during the Alabama football game. Roll Tide!!!

Update: Prayer Request...
Still really sick fever, lots of pain etc. I'm still in the hospital at DCH room #577 which as of today makes 7 days. The chest tube is still in and continues to draw fluid off my lung. I'm waiting to hear when I'm going to have to have the hiatal hernia operation to fix the big problem at hand that has been causing me acid reflux which resulted in the pneumonia which led to fluid buildup around my lung. Thank you everyone who is sending prayers I ask that you please, please continue to do so. This is by far the 2nd worst thing I have ever had to deal with in my life with the 1st being the loss of my mom.

PRAYERS NEEDED FOR MAJOR SURGERIES!!! So after two days of excruciating and sharp pains in my lower back and left side which I was thinking was just a severe muscle pull. It has been discovered Thanks to several Amazing Doctors at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa it's Extremely Severe Bronchial Pneumonia caused initially by a Hiatal Hernia that's mostly affecting my left side. The decision was made by the pulmonologist to insert the needle and draw off fluid on Friday. Then on Sunday the Thoracic Surgeon inserted a chest tube to drain off the rest of fluid around my left lung. After inserting the chest tube in we have discovered that I have a Hiatal Hernia that is very severe and has been causing the fluid to build up in my chest wall which is also causing acid reflux which is causing the Bronchial Pneumonia. Major Surgeries to come in the following week. So I'm asking for all the prayers you ask for and send, Please...

Prayers Needed!!!

So after two days of being at Northport DCH then Friday afternoon being moved to DCH, Tuscaloosa they attempted to drain the massive amount of fluid in my left chest with a needle. When that didn't work now I have a chest tube. If the chest tube doesn't work tonight and tomorrow morning effectively then it's major surgery as early as Tuesday or Wednesday. For anyone that's reached out to me and I haven't gotten back to it’s because I'm in a LOT of pain. SO HOPING and ASKING for PRAYERS in abundance.

I'm asking for prayers for myself in a very big way today. So after two days of excruciating and sharp pains in my lower back and left side I was thinking it was just a severe muscle pull.  We have now discovered it's Extremely severe bronchial pneumonia that's mostly on my left side. The decision will be made around 2 PM or so today by the pulmonologist on what time they are going to insert a chest tube and drain off the fluid because of how severe and bad it is. Please Pray all goes well.
