Mastaj’s Mission--

Thank you for taking the time to read this, it means so much to have your attention and support at such a crucial time for Joe and his family.

To his family and friends, Joe is a loving brother, cousin, loyal friend and a typical 30 year old in the midst of building his young life. Joe is one of those guys that everyone wants to be around, he truly brings the best out of everyone. It was not until recently when Joe was faced with a catastrophic event, that we have really seen Joe for who he truly is, a silent angel. On August 30th, 2014 -Labor Day weekend, Joe was involved in a horrific boating accident that in seconds would leave him fighting for his life. In those crucial moments with the help of his friends and emergency responders, Joe miraculously survived. To put this in perspective, the human body holds approximately 9 pints of blood; Joe lost 7 pints while lying on the dock for 30 minutes waiting for the ambulance.

The two weeks that followed were the biggest roller coaster of Joe’s life, undergoing multiple surgeries, coming in and out of consciousness, and not knowing what the future held, including if the doctors would be able to save his legs. Throughout this entire process, Joe has had an unbreakable spirit. Moments after his life saving surgery he received the news that they could not save his right leg from the knee down. The first thing he said to the nurse was, "hey it could be worse, I could have lost both legs."

As we sit here today, Joe is expected to make a full recovery, but not without a price. The costs associated with this accident are a challenge. Below are some of the expenses associated with the accident, the majority of which are not covered by insurance..

Hospital stay: $12,600+

Rehabilitation: $3,000+ per day for 14+ days

Physician Care: $13,550+

Anesthesia: $5,800+

A prosthetic leg (which he will need multiple of): approximately $50,000+

Extended Care: TBD

Joe is the most loyal, caring and thoughtful friend anyone could ever ask for. Joe’s perseverance and spirit has never diminished. He continues to put others before himself and rarely asks for anything in return. This is an opportunity to make an impact on a person’s life and truly make a difference. Our goal is to help Joe get back up and running or as he would say, "dominate tomorrow.”

We can't stress enough that every dollar helps. Our goal is to make Joe’s recovery as smooth as possible and relieve the immense financial stress this ordeal has placed on him and his family. Here's how you can donate:
