An informative video series that shares the food and faith of various Eastern Catholic and Orthodox traditions.

“Eastern Hospitality” will be a video series produced by Eastern Christian Media and the Byzantine Catholic Cultural Center of the Eparchy of Parma (Ohio). Eastern Christian Media consists of a team of award winning videographers, editors, producers and directors with over fifty years of experience in their profession.
The first four shows will focus on the foods prepared for the Philip’s Fast (the penitential period – Advent in the Roman Catholic Church – before the feast of the Nativity, Christmas, beginning after the feast of St. Philip, Nov. 14). The traditional fast was to abstain from meat and dairy products. Today the fast is not mandatory, but many choose to keep the tradition.
“Eastern Hospitality” will feature Father Moses, a monk from Holy Resurrection Monastery, St. Nazienz, Wisc., and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., and a co-host cooking a vegan or vegetarian dish. They will also welcome a guest offering a reflection on one of the holy day themes occurring during the Philip’s Fast.
The series will continue throughout the year, with ethnic dishes from the various Eastern Christian traditions as well as more health-conscious adaptations the younger generations have created.
The videos will be available on Facebook and YouTube and the websites of various Eastern eparchies (dioceses) and parishes. Recipes will be available as a download link and can also be sent to viewers upon request. As videos are created, we anticipate sending them to PBS stations as well as EWTN (Eternal Word (Catholic) Television Network) for possibly inclusion in their broadcasts.
Funding is needed to begin production of the series and will be needed to continue to produce a quality product into the future. Please help us to provide this family-friendly, entertaining and informative programming to feed both stomach and soul.
