Iraqi Refugee Field Work Trip

Donation protected
Dear all--

As many of you know, for the past year, I have been spending countless hours working on refugee cases with the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP).

Many of IRAP's clients worked--and continue to work--closely with Americans during war and occupation. As a result of their close ties with us, they now live under violent persecution as militia targets of death threats, kidnappings, and assassinations. When we declared "the war was over" and began to pull troops out of the region, we left them behind with barely a second thought.

Since 2008, IRAP has successfully resettled over 2,000 refugees in eight different countries. IRAP focuses on the most urgent humanitarian cases throughout the Middle East, and in addition to cases involving those persecuted for working with Americans, provides assistance to “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Intersex individuals in the Middle East and North Africa; female survivors of sexual assault, domestic abuse or human trafficking; children with medical emergencies; and emerging high-risk refugee populations in the Middle East and North Africa, including Syrian, Sudanese and Somali refugees.” Please learn more about IRAP here: http://refugeerights.org.

Today, I’m asking you to help me fund a work trip to Amman, Jordan this January in order to conduct client intake work. Jordan is one of the few options left for refugees across the Middle East and many are travelling there in hopes of finding humanitarian and legal assistance.

Thank you for reading and I greatly appreciate your support.
