A Room For Kyle

Because of the surgery and its effects, we had to buy a hospital bed and transform our dining room into a bedroom because the bed is too big for his room upstairs. Our dining room furniture is stored in the garage, and Kyle’s medication and supplies has taken over. Now, my parents and his nurses are responsible for 100% of his needs 24 hours a day; including feeding him through his G-tube, giving him medications from a strict regimen, physical therapy, bathing him upstairs and transporting him (150 pounds of dead weight) from his bed, to his wheelchair, and to a mattress on the floor so that he doesn’t get bedsores.

Our house is not handicap accessible, so we’ve always dreamed of adding a room on to our house for Kyle that is big enough for his medicine, wheelchair, hospital bed, machines, and his nurses to sit and have room to work. My parents have truly done everything for my brother and I, and because I am at school I am unable to help. I am so grateful for their endless devotion and unparalleled care they give my brother. I want them to have this home makeover to make life easier for all they have done and continue to do. They are the most caring, compassionate, and kind people I have ever known, and are completely deserving of having a room added on to our home for Kyle to make taking care of him a lot easier. Kyle is now a 23 year old MAN, and it's time for him to have his own room!
