Hello, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page! The goal is a simple one: to fund a permanent collection of books and toys for the enjoyment of children treated at Arthur Davison Children's Hospital in Ndola, Zambia.
For the past ten months, I've been living in a small town in Zambia, working as a project manager for an HIV research group. Taking part in field research is incredibly rewarding, but before I leave for the United States in November, I'd like to give back to my little community in a more direct way.
Arthur Davison Children's Hospital, located on a quiet hill just south of the DRC border, plays a major role in the health and wellbeing of families in the city of Ndola and the Copperbelt Region. They provide focused attention to the specific needs of children, offering in-patient and out-patient services along with tailored programs for vulnerable subsets of the population.

ADCH is where women come with their HIV positive infants to receive treatment with no fear of stigma. It's where adolescents gather to learn about reproductive health and self esteem. And as we head into the rainy season, it's a place that unfortunately will soon be very full of little ones admitted for malaria and suffering from malnutrition.
There are many ways to help institutions like ADCH support the community members that depend on them. One of the most important needs for sick children and their families is simply a morale boost. Currently, ADCH has no books or toys available for their patients to use. Many caregivers do not have the personal resources to provide these comforts for their little ones.
With your help, I would like to establish a permanent collection of books, creative materials, and toys for the children of Arthur Davison Chidren's Hospital. Five dollars is all it takes to make a truly significant difference in the experience of a sick child, providing a happy distraction from illness and replacing fear with comfort.
