The Boilertown Saga

The Boilertown Saga is a sordid and quasi-autobiographical tale involving three unfortunate housemates living under the most dire of circumstances- the end of the world. Larry Combs as “Fenmore LeMerde,” Mary Anne McClusky as “Ms Marlybone,” and I (Jessica Hopsicker) as “Greta Scot” make a desperate escape from the clutches of soul sucking robots, Elder Gods, dinosaurs, supervolcanoes, ghosts, science experiments gone horribly wrong, and the super villainous “LeMort.” Boilertown is the culmination of five years worth of excitable banter about our steampunk character back-stories. It involves superscience, time travel, potty humor, and one hell of a body count, and draws inspiration from the likes of H.P. Lovecraft, Jules Verne, and Hunter S. Thompson. It is a fantastic tale I am completely devoted to penning because five years is an awfully long time to have a story of this proportion crammed inside my head. We seriously have enough material for three more books.
A personal deadline for getting the first one finished was June 2014. At the beginning of this year my hours were cut at my job, allowing me the free time needed to undertake such an accomplishment. I should have been searching for a new job instead for months on end I sat cloistered in my bedroom hunched over my keyboard clacking away obsessively bordering on insanity. When I wasn't working on The Boilertown Saga, it haunted my thoughts and invaded my dreams. The end was in sight when the unspeakable happened and my computer would not turn on. I was confronted by the very disconcerting sound of whir, click, click, chunk, whir, click, click signaling hard-drive failure. Luckily the material was saved and for months it floated on the network until I was able to reclaim it. Three hard-drives later and a painfully long wait, I finally have my computer up and running. During this hiatus I was confronted with a concept completely alien to me: Having a life. It took some time to fully grasp this notion and now that I've had my fun I feel it again nagging grabbing at me from the back of my brain, the innate need to write and get this story out of my head once and for all.
