'Lisa' was brutally raped at gunpoint in 2012 when she was 12 years old by a family member. Due to the lack of sufficient medical care in our country, she was neglected. This resulted in her contracting HIV and Genital warts. For the last two years, she has been under the care of many government hospitals and she has been continued to be neglected and refused help.

Now at 14 years old, due to this neglect, she now carries the scars of her rape. The Genital warts have formed a growth the size of two large oranges in between her legs. We have pleaded with the Government hospitals to remove it and they refuse to provide her with the much needed medical care.

We have now decided to seek help from the Private Hospital Sector.

We have already been able to secure a Gynecologist, Anesthetist and Plastic Surgeon who will be doing the procedure for free. All that is outstanding is to raise the money to pay for the hospital theater, hospital bed, pathology tests and medication. She will be in hospital for around 3 weeks.

We have negotiated with the Private hospitals for a reduced fee and to date have we have had no commitment. We now aim at raising the funds needed for her to receive the medical care she needs to heal and move on with her life.

The young girl has now been placed into our foster care permanently. In the few weeks she has been in my care you can see her eyes starting to come alive. She has been given a new hope that she never had before.

Due to the size of the growth and the very offensive odour of the STD she has already missed two years of school. She cannot sit, walk or play due to the size and constant pain. (Imagine taking two oranges and putting them in your underwear and having to walk around like this for two years) It is affecting her right to education, her right to dignity and her right to a childhood. Each day that goes by she is losing a bit of herself due to the growth.

Our goal and hope is to raise the money needed for her to have the surgery as urgently as possible for her to return to school in the new year (South African schools start the new school year in January)

This page is dedicated to giving her the opportunity of a normal life, giving her healing of both her body and heart and the opportunity to return to school and ensure that she can have a bright and whole future. She can no longer live like this and together we can change her life.
