We need your help to start the Dulles South Food Pantry. While we live in a relatively wealthy county, its wealth is not evenly distributed. There are families in Dulles South who need help with food, clothing, utilities and shelter. Something unexpected, like an illness, death, job loss, disability or divorce can quickly put ordinary people trouble.
Loudoun County Public Schools report that 759 school-aged children, within the boundaries of the Freedom and John Champe high school clusters, are currently living in economically disadvantaged households. Free and reduced price meals at school stop over the summer.
The Dulles South Food Pantry is a faith based, non-denominational emergency food pantry. We will provide nutritious food, personal supplies and other services to those in need in Dulles South and the surrounding area regardless of income, faith or other criteria. We are an all volunteer organization focused both on feeding the hungry and promoting the self-sufficiency of those we serve.
The food pantry is opening on June 18th, 2014 in the old Chapel building of Arcola UMC at 24757 Evergreen Mill Road, Sterling, VA, 20166. We will be open the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 5pm to 8pm.
Your donation will help with feeding the hungry in Dulles South. Please click below to donate or mail a check made out to "Dulles South Food Pantry" to the address above. All donations are tax-deductible.
Our start up costs are as minimal as possible. Volunteers will operate the Dulles South Food Pantry from donated space and distribute donated food. We can purchase food from the food bank at a deep discount if we need more food than is donated. No one in the Dulles South community who is hungry should ever leave the food pantry empty handed.
